Summary-
What is skepticism? It’s
nothing very esoteric. We encounter it every day. Basically It’s doubting on
someone’s thoughts and ideas. Let’s take an example, while buying a second hand
car, we doubt on each and every subject matter related with it. But skepticism
is also not good in every field. Such as: medical field and scientific field
because they are related with human and social factors.
In a society there exist two types of
personalities; critical thinker and creative thinker. Creative thinker develops
new ideas and blogs relating to science, commerce and technology and critical
thinker are those who criticize on the theories of creative thinker. They show
the negative impacts of those ideas of creative thinker. If we are only
skeptical then no ideas make it through us. We will never learn anything new.
We will become a crotchety old person convinced that nonsense is ruling the
world. But every now and then may be once in hundred classes, a new idea turns
out to be on the mark, valid and wonderful. If we are too much in the habit of
being skeptical about everything, we are going to miss or resent it, and either
way we will be standing in the way of understanding and progress.
On the
other hand if we are open to the point of gullibility and have not an ounce of
skeptical sense in us, then we cannot distinguish the useful ideas from the
worthless ones. If all ideas have equal validity then we are lost because then,
it seems to us, no ideas have any validity at all.
Interpretation-
The main
interpretation of this text is to aware the people about pros and cons of
skepticism. The writer through this essay tries to tell us that we must be
skeptic only I critical situation. If we start doubting in all the areas then
we will gain nothing. But if we don’t be skeptic also then we cannot
distinguish between right and wrong. Today scientist are more successful
because they adopt others theories in need. Same as we also should believe in
other ideas which are based on real life situation experiments.
