Summary-
The poet is in the woods,
but he’s trespassing. He first wonders who owns these woods. In the same breath,
he tells us that he thinks he knows the owner of the woods. The lucky landowner
lives in the villages so he won’t get in trouble for trespassing because
there’s no one to catch him. The little horse supposes that it must think it’s
pretty strange for them to be stopping in the middle of nowhere, with no one in
sight, with not even a farm house close by & absolutely no sign of Hay. The
poet & his little horse are chilling between the woods and frozen lake in
the darkest evening of the year. The little horse gives the harness bell a
shake in order to get his master attention, who was busy enjoying the scenic
beauty of the nature. The poet admits to having hankering for the dark woods,
but he tells us he’s got things to do, people to see and places to go. He has
got a long way to go before he rests his head so he would better leave the
beauty of the nature and fulfill his Responsibilities.
Interpretation -
The poem tries to reveals the fact and tries
to make people to understand the beauty of the nature. It also tries to tell us
that everybody must fulfill their responsibilities and duties. There are many
such beauties of nature which may be the hindrance in the way of fulfilling our
duties. But we must overcome our hindrances and go on with our duties. We must
have a hope of touching the sky sitting in the earth. Likewise in the poem the
poet gets involved in the pretty beauty of the nature for a while but gets into
his duties before it’s too late. The last two stanza of the poem reflects the
same theme:
And miles to go before I sleep
And miles to go before I sleep
It clearly defines that he has not
forgotten his duties and responsibilities.
Critical thinking-
The poem ‘stopping
in the woods by the snowy evening’ is a beautiful poem composed by Robert
frost. Despite of its good moral, I don’t fully go with it. How can a
responsible person forget his duties by just looking the woods beauty? Are all
natural beauties so amazing that people like the poet too forgets his duties?
So, the poem talks about the natural beauties and duties of people which are
just like two opposite sides of a coin. Natural Beauties makes us enjoyable and
happy but it can’t be linked with the duties and responsibilities of a person.
Assimilation-
The poem deals about
the beauties of the nature & at the same time talks about the duties of a
person. Before reading the poem ,I used to think that duties can be fulfilled
in the course of time, but after reading this poem I found that time doesn't wait for anyone so, we must fulfill our duties and responsibilities before it’s
too late for us.
Can You relate this poem as psychological perspective. I mean to say that about conscious sub conscious and unconscious ??
