GREAT SCOTT! GADZOOKS! :: Four levels

Summary :

In a poem, ‘Great Scott! Gadzooks!’ the narrator is telling about the merits and demerits of watching T.V. by children. The childes become dull if they watched T.V. for very long time. They use to see the screen of T.V. constantly. They never do physical practices such as playing, running; jumping etc. if they found T.V. they can stay in front of T.V. for such a long time until their eyes shuts down. In T.V. they found very interesting serials, ads, and cartons, which lose their thinking capability. There they found ready made things so they have not to use their brains to learn something. So, they lose creativity also. T.V. really hypnotizes the childes; it makes them as a drunk.

      But if childes watches T.V. they never fight, climb on the window and never do such bad activities. If they watch T.V. family members can do other activities in their home. Their parents can be busy in doing kitchen activities or cleaning or washing. But it is not worthy than watching T.V. by childes. Childes have a very soft and sensitive mind, which may be filled by rusts if they watch T.V. they cannot imagine the fantasy world, they cannot be inspired by reading. They become such a dull and worthless. They become blind with their eyes.

      We can say very confidently that the childes, who were in the time when T.V. had not found, were also being happy. Because they used to read beautiful and fantastic stories, dramas, novels, poems this makes them to imagine and help to increase the creativity. They used to be very happy without hanging in T.V. they used to read, to listen interesting tales by their parents, to listen interesting histories, to play games. By which they can be happy without watching the T.V, such a monster. So, now we parents also try to do those things for our children. We must throw the T.V and in the space of that T.V, we must keep a bookshelf filled with interesting books. But they cannot bear the loose of losing T.V. they may be violent so we must aware of that. But in few weeks they can regain their daily life being involved in reading books. And, once if they addicted by books they will never see the T.V. we can involve them into making beautiful arts, reading, singing, dancing, playing etc.

INTERPRETATION :

This poem may be telling us about the demerits of watching T.V. we are wasting our important time in watching it, which is very worthy. This poem is reciting us about those days where T.V had not invented. Firstly, this poem is telling about losing our creativity by watching the T.V. in second, this poem is telling us losing our thinking capability by watching T.V. thirdly, this is telling us about spending our important time by watching T.V. So, we need to be aware of it.

CRITICAL THINKING

 Yes, I found childes watching television for a long time. But I never found such Childs who became dull by just watching television. In spite of this I found childes being more creative and thinking about the show, watching educational programs and other creative programs which help them in study. And, I have a question that, are all stations of televisions only shows the cartons and serials? Can’t they show educational programs?

ASSIMILATION

I knew the demerits of watching television by childes. I knew that they can become dull if they watched T.V for long time. I knew that it call fill rusts into the soft and sensitive mind of childes. I became happy by knowing the ways to keep busy our children without let them watching T.V. so, I will control them to watch it. I will tell them interesting stories instead of giving them the time to watch it. I will give books in their birthdays and other occasions. And I will develop very educational environment in my society.
